The new Better Health Channel presents a framework for a transformation in the delivery of health information and behaviour change opportunities for consumers in Victoria.

A compelling digital consumer engagement and community building model was developed as a means for promoting health and positively influencing the behaviour of consumers, based on best practice use of digital technologies and compelling interactive interface designs.

The model describes a transformational approach to consumer engagement – identifying the consumer, their information needs and wants, what influences them, what motivates them and their readiness for change.

The model enables the Department to design, implement and evaluate effective approaches for engaging consumers to better support the delivery of the health priorities framework.

Our model was based on research into current and accepted human behavioural models used across multiple disciplines (e.g. social psychology, economics, behavioural economics) to help better understand the drivers of behaviour. We used the ‘Stages of change’ model to assess readiness for change.
